Dieu Donné offers a limited number of internships to current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, who are looking for experience working in a non-profit contemporary artist workspace. University or college credit can be accommodated for participating institutions.
Dieu Donné may accept additional interns on a case-by-case basis as funding allows. If you’re seeking a university-funded internship, you may send your resume and cover letter to education@dieudonne.org at any time. Dieu Donné does not hire unpaid interns.
APPLICATIONs UNDER REVIEW: 2026 Paid Studio Internship
Internship applications will be reviewed in February, with interviews conducted in March. The internship will be awarded in early April.
Dieu Donné seeks applications for a 2026 Studio Internship, a 4.5-month paid position running from late April through early September 2026.
This internship is designated for university-level students or recent graduates from low-income or economically disadvantaged backgrounds, in accordance with grant requirements. Financial information is collected solely to confirm eligibility and is not used in evaluating applications.
Studio interns will support studio operations, administrative tasks, and teaching assistance related to Dieu Donné’s residencies, artist collaborations, and education programs. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a fully equipped papermaking studio by working closely with studio staff and fellows in a collaborative environment.
Primary studio responsibilities include fiber preparation; studio set-up, organization, and maintenance; and ongoing care of papermaking machinery, equipment, and supplies. Interns will also assist with the Paper Institute and public programs, including working with adult and youth audiences, supporting the scholarship administration process, packing artworks, communicating with students over email, and assisting with in-person open houses and artist talks.
This position is approximately 22.5 hours per week at $17/hour. Academic credit requirements can be accommodated for participating colleges or universities.
Requirements:
Commitment of three days per week (9:30 am–5:00 pm) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from late April through early September 2026. (Some evening or weekend hours may be required to support classes and events; a maximum of four weekends across the internship period, scheduled in advance.)
Prior studio experience
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent the studio in a friendly, professional manner
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management skills and ability to multitask
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; fine motor skills required; ability to stand for extended periods
Authorization to live and work in the United States
Preferred:
Comfort working in a casual but professional office and studio environment
Familiarity with Mac OS, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Suite applications
Art handling experience
Scheduling Note: While full-day availability (9:30 am–5:00 pm) is preferred, some scheduling flexibility may be possible to accommodate ongoing commitments. Some past interns have worked shorter hours across additional days. Any evening or weekend hours will be scheduled well in advance.
